I have a 1999 GSX F/I eng. It sat for 1.5 yrs and I removed all fuel from tank. I removed fuel inj. and clean as best as I could, it now starts out of the water, but once in the water it will not start. I started it on trailer and ran it for a while, it surges at WOT and still will not start in water, only on hose out of water, could the fuel inj. be bad or Rave valves need to be cleaned. Thanx for help Bruce S.

starting?

Have you tried to start it on the trailer, then back it into the water? If you say it starts on the trailer, put the ski in the water, still on the trailer, then, when it starts, quickly back it into the water to see what happens.

Started on trailer out of water had wife back it in"that was fun" ran for about 10-15 min. surged at full power ran good at lower end, got back to dock and shut her down would not start again in water, put back on trailer and it started out of water, strange thing. thanx for helpBruce S.

Seems to me, it could be anything that would cause it to bind while in the water. Maybe engine pistons are not as free as they should be and while in the water under a load from the impeller and jet pump it is too much pressure on it to turn it at the speed it needs to be to fire up.

Compression test....

Do and post the results of your compression. If the ski is surging, this could be a sign of leaning out. Read your plugs. There is a thread in the "snipes korner" you can look for in the bottom of my signature that will link you to it. There is about 25 pix you can look at for comparison.
