does :confused:the 1999 sporter with dual 710 use electric fuel pumps? the mech. says the electric pumps have to be replaced because they are not working???? the fuel pumps that i saw were the one tha uses engine pulse.

Nope... it uses external pulse pumps. But... unless you bought the boat new... who knows what has been done.

But... since it still uses pressure carbs... the pumps would need to put out 45 to 55 PSI.

I have a 99 Sportster 1800.

All stated above is true of course (Dr. Honda's reputation is world famous)

I would go look at the boat to see what these electric pumps are about. an electric set up would need a few safety modifications to be marine grade, in my humble opinion, and I am very lax with safety...
I could not find reasonable replacement for my pumps so I used the highest flow Mikuni I could find/ It had 2 outlets and my boat has single carb per engine, so I fashioned a manifold to make the two outlets into one.

It was this one, I don't recall who I bought from.

You can plug one outlet, but I did not know how to do it correctly in a way I'd feel OK with it.

ok the oem pumps you can get for like $90 a piece if look hand enough for them. The pump that ialonso shows cost like $65 for $50 more I would just get the rights pumps and not mess around changing things. To me $50 not do have any issues on the water is good insurance. Someone could of switched the pumps over to electric but Dr. is right you need to regulate the fuel pressure for them. More than likely you won't finda pump that does the exact pressure you need. I still thknk the OEM pumps will be cheaper and easier. Just takes some pics and post them. You can see right away opening the engine hood if the pumps are gone/switched.
