The ski extension on this Speester makes little sense or I am a rock. The manual is very vague. I think this is a simple procedure but here is what I get:
-user's manual: "raise ski extension section"
-What I get: will not move, if turned CCW, the top fitting unscrews and the black inner pole section can come out, leaving a two foot long threaded rod in the center of the storage shaft, going all the way to the bottom.
-Manual: "raise inner shaft until it stops"
-What I get: the black section comes all the way out of the storage shaft
I have lubricated the bottom of the shaft in case it will "turn ccw" and come free.
I have tried some force, the shaft has come up about 5/8 inch and will not go back down.
I have quit while I am behind. Can anyone tell me in fairly detailed directions, how this assembly is supposed to be assembled, for skiing?

I am no pro but if you look at your parts break down Look at part# 5 pull handle spring plunger. The parts can be found on this site look at the top right korner of this page and click on parts and look up your boat and you will see what you are looking for I hope. I would thank that you would pull out on part # 5 to raise and lower but I am not sure as I have never even seen one until I seen it in the parts list. It looks like this boat may have came with two types after reading your post for a second time it looks like you have the other type it is allso included in the parts break down on the left side of the page. Just from looking at the break down it seems that you may have to grab the pole it self and turn it counter clock wise to make it loose so it will slide up and down. Like I said I am no pro and could be wrong. Good luck Robin

The post is more than likely bent. It just pulls straight up and has a locking device to hold it in place inside the engine compart. You need to remove the whole thing from the boat and pull it apart. Then when it is in 2 separate pieces straighten the aluminum bar so it won't get stuck again. I have repaired like 10 of them...all got bent from pulling too much weight.

I will check both issues....Karl, the black inner rod comes right out once the top aluminum fitting is removed so I figure the hull mounted pipe is straight, feels straight. I have looked to the bottom of the pipe and I am thinking the bottom of the theaded center rod that holds the top fitting on is seized at the bottom from salt intrusion. This is my guess, and as you said the next thing to do is yank it out. I think I might leave it as I don't tow skiers. But can you say, the first rod that pulls out is actually three pieces, 1) a fitting on the bottom (with the long threaded rod welded to it)... 2) the black pipe, 3) the top fitting...?

Ok that parts list is awesome, thanks for the tip. The spring plunger is on the extention rod (stowed externally) and is perfect. What I think the problem is may be part #11 the compression boot is seized in the bottom of #19 the outer post assy.. Basically I have to unscrew the "ski cap" as part #8 is called, to get #7 the inner sleeve, out. The threaded rod is part #9 and the whole ball of wax in the bottom of the "outer post assembly" is seized, and VERY seized now from my use of force.
One difference from the parts breakdown, I have a rubber springed "bar" in a slot on the outer post assembly, not the plunger shown. Which leaves my question about how the post locks at all, a complete mystery; the inner post has no holes or lock receiving area of any type on it....I think this area has been worked on before and incorrect parts were installed.

Thank you for the information!!
