i purchased this 1999 speedster about 2 months ago but have a few questions. Do these have an hour meter on them? Is there a specific annual service that you can get from advanced auto, autozone or o'reilly? I have bought new plugs for both motors but they keep getting fouled out. any suggestions on this.

The fuel guage does not work. what is the best way to test if it is the guage or the fuel pump?

There is a line off the oil tank that is not hooked to anything.

thanks kirk

Hi Kirk
which plugs did you install its odd that all four are fouling. manual calls for NGK br8es gapped at .022 inch
does gauge show over full or empty.use an ohm meter to measure resistence at the sending unit if it is original foam float they have a tendency to become water (gas) logged and sink.(there are other known issues with sending unit just do a search) in that case gauge willl read empty.
you may have the oil pump delete. or it could be the vent.could you post a picture of the line in question.

That oil line is a vent that comes off the top of the tank.

The magnets usually fall out of the fuel float. They're cheap on ebay shipped.

Not sure if there is an hour meter in the mpem or not. Dealer was telling me no when I asked, I just don't think he wanted to check for me.

You probably want to rebuild the carbs, replace the 2 fuel filters, check what oil has been running in it and if it's wrong, drain and replace it. Also if you're still running the oil injection you probably want to replace the 2 little 3/32" oil lines that run from the pump to the intake manifold. Inspect the wear rings, change the pump oil, and pump grease into the zerk fittings on the PTO's so the proper tension is there on the carbon seal. Oh, and the biggest thing before you sink the boat..........look where the exhaust exits the boat, there is a rubber gasket/donut. Roll the donut back and look by the hose clamp, if it is split and dry rotted (my guess it is) you will need to replace them. They're obsolete, but guys have use roofing vent seals with success There is a guy selling them on ebay for $95, LOL and I swear it's a $7 roofing vent seal that he is raping people for. I should be able to take some pics of my 99 here this week if you need any info on this stuff.
