Well it was sold,(Runs Great). Well the engine starts everytime so I guess they are correct but the darn thing won't go but 30MPH and fills with water. After some inspection the impellers and wear ring are shot, 3 quarters between blade and ring. Also I connected the water hose with seat off and found water shooting from the intake which has a broken bolt and the rubber mount broke as well. And to make things worse the line that I guess pumps water out are all full of sand, I mean the clear lines are hard full of sand. So how bad did I get screwed and what do you think happened?

I'm getting a parts list to order monday if it's worth saving. Like I said it starts and runs fine but since I saw the water spraying out I havent started it since. Makes me worried about us running it on the lake today about 30 min.

Thanks in advance guys.

You have to fix the known issues and go from there. While you have it apart, I would redo or at least check very well the carbon seal...

I would not run that ski another minute. I can see the tuned pipe turning brown in the right side of your pic. You're gonna need to verify EVERY cooling line in that thing. I''m sure the screw snapped of that head pipe because the side mount was broken or the bushings are shot. Those side mounts are absolutely imperative to have fastened.

Thanks guys..

Ok so I also need to check the carbon seal on the driveshaft and get the water lines checked. Is this common for this ski to have these issues? How did the sand get in the lines and the best way to clean them? Should I replace all the exhaust bolts?

The previous owner probably ran the ski in very shallow water. Like started it close to the beach and drove out. I would disconnect the lines one at a time and remove them and try and clear them. Whats even scarier is your engine could be packed with some sand. But a flush of the engine might help. Was water coming out the pisser on the rear of the ski by the tow hook part#14?

And to flush it I connect a water hose and run it? Well when I done that the water was shooting out the broken exhaust bolt (#1 in the picture above) so I shut it off.. I didn't want to fill the engine with water.. And it's not shooting out the hole at the tow hook and that's when I saw a rock in it, then followed the hoses and found them all packed solid with sand/dirt. Where does it suck sand up from and if I blow out all the lines should it be ok?

So when I have the exhaust off repairing the broke bolt, what parts would you suspect I need? Where is the best place to get all the parts including the wear ring and impeller?

Sucks sand through the pump/impeller and pushed it through the engine. This is why 2-strikes needs flushed pretty often. They have an "open cooling system" as compared to 4-tec that have a "closed loop cooling" system.

Well I have removed the exhaust and found the sand was only in both #11 and#13 lines. Got them all cleaned out but I still need to get the sand out of #9 nipple. image1.JPGimage2.JPGIMG_2013.JPG

Would the sand in the lines cause the bilge system not to work?

ANY debris in the system will compromise the system. As you can see...some of those lines, and especially the connectors (tees, nipples, etc) are pretty dang small.

The bilge pickups have to be pretty clean. They have a limit as to how fast they can clear out the incoming water, too. If it was blasting in from that bolt hole, then it could not keep up thus the hull filling with water.
It's a 17 year old water toy that was abused a bit so it will have some issues. Mine was blowing water from a small cooling line and the floor of the bilge was full of leaves so every time we took it out she nearly sank.
The previous owner(s) beached yours often and took no notice to the fact that jet pumps intake from the bottom. Luckily you found this early and can get that pipe fixed.

also,in the pump nozzle, there should be 2 tubes sticking down out of the top of the pump housing( not the steering nozzle)these tubes must be there or water will be pushed into the hull, instead of sucking it out.the tubes will hang down a 1/4 to 3/8". u should be able to see them if u look in the pump.

I do see the lines in the pump, but when I connected the water hose it was prob dumping a few gallons a min so yes I believe with the machine not running up to speed and overfilling with water the bilge couldnt keep up and with the lines clogged just added to the issues.. Well I'm ordering parts today and hopefully have it all fixed my the weekend. Are the Solus impellers good? It's cheaper then the 309.oo factory impeller...

How bad is your factory prop? Skat-Trak can fix them to better than new for less than $150.

I have a good pump from a GTX on left, and the GTI (140mm) is on left. A factory impeller is 309.00 and Solus is less then 200. I just didn't know where all you guys get them from and which is a good replacement impeller..

Thanks guys!

Well I replaced just the wear ring and I got a clearance of .030 so I cleaned the water lines and stuck it in the water. 25 yrds out the exhaust rubber boot came off.. Went and tightened it and she runs fine. About 47 MPH with me and my 12 yr old daughter. The water was coming in from the broken exhaust bolt and now there's no water in it, bellows work fine.

The only issue that bothers me is the peeing. It only pee's when I'm under throttle and I have been searching and some say this is normal for it to pee under load because it splits to the exhaust to keep it cool... I run it wide open across the lake and stopped and the head was warm not hot so I guess it's circulating fine...

Thanks for all of your help in getting this old girl up and running again..

There is an elbow that plugs up often. Follow from the exit hole toward the engine, you will run into the elbow. Remove it and clean it.

I think I'm going to start it up in the lake and pinch off the line going to the exhaust and see if I get a better stream. If so them I know it's flowing ok and will leave it be. But if not then I need to dig deeper and see what's going on..

Gotta problem guys.....

Run it on the lake and it ran perfect no issues and when we came in it started running bad and switched off.. Lifted the seat and all 4 of the bolts holding the exhaust on broke the heads off.. Now is this a motor mount issue or what?
