Let me apologize first because I am very new to the world of PWCs. We just purchased a 1999 GSX RFI. I replaced the battery and it is fully charged. Problem is when I press the start/stop button, the engine will turn over briefly, says 5-10 seconds then stops with a humming in the solenoid. I have ordered a new S/S switch bc the other is very worn and hard to push (could this be the problem?). After cranking, if I push the S/S it hums. If I hold it down then eventually it will turn over but not long enough to start. Then sometimes after this when I push the S/S button there is a loud beep. I did find a 15A fusible link connected to the solenoid and it was bad so replaced it. Also, I have tried jumping across the solenoid posts and pressing the S/S and nothing happens, no spark. Please help we want to ride it!!

Okay,, is the battery load tested,,,eliminate that from the equation,,,then put a test light or meter,on dc volts,,,,on the start terminal,,of the selenoid,,see if you have battery voltage,,then move your meter to the hot side of the selenoid,,(left),,hit the start button,,,see if you battery voltage there,,,if yes,,it may well be the starter,,,if not,,,the selenoid is gone,,,you can also run battery voltage directly to the starter positive terminal to rule out or rule in the starter

Battery is load tested - fine. Checked voltage on battery side - 12.75 volts but on starter side it jumps around 8 volts being the highest. I did find that the connection between the battery and solenoid was loose. I tightened and it almost started. solenoid hummed or clicked. im gonna try replacing the solenoid to see if that is it
