Hi guys, I am new to the forum so go easy
we have a 99 challenger 1800, just bought it cheapo as it was submerged with rain water upto the carbs! I have rebuilt both motors fully, from the crank up........the carbs were beyond help so invested in some brand new ones from my supplier on the cheap, but they are for the pwc not boat so have own fuel pump, we rigged the plumbing to suit and did away with all the old lines and pump.
Both motors start on the button, idle absolutely as sweet as a nut, both idle identical rpm and start as soon as you hit the button, but neither engine will rev up.........just seems to limit rpm
I have cut back ht leads, even put new coils on now as when you run with a strobe light on the leads the spark dissapears (jumps in and out) as if a limiter is on............stators seem fine as does everything else.........so what have I missed?
As we bought the thing siezed I have never heard the thing run or know whether it had the fault prior to the water logging and rebuilds......I am starting to suspect the MPEM?
Also, someone said something about a water sensor in the hull some where could be corroded.......to my knowledge it mustbe a common denominator for both engines..........any ideas?
