I have heard of people swapping the single out to 2 ski electrical boxes. Then it would be more common parts

From what I was told it is a pretty strait forward swap... At least on the challenger 1800 with 787s.. It just ends up having two of all electrical then if something goes down (mpem) out on the water. U arnt dead in the water

been looking for anything aftermarket kits or OEM

The most cost effective way to convert your original MPEM is to use two of the new production aftermarket mpem's for ski's '95 or newer. The aftermarket modules don't use the DESS lanyards and that saves some cost and frustration. SBT has those available and I see them all over the place on Ebay.

I can draw you a wiring diagram for any of those modules if you want to go that route, the caveat is that you will lose your neutral safety feature and speedo.

By chance are you just experiencing the 5 amp power supply fuse for the original MPEM blowing when powered up? Those can be repaired, the transient suppressor diode is the culprit for that issue.

that's the strange part of it im not blowing any fuse's ,, im just not getting power to that side of the MPEM one motor turns over perfect the other no. . I jumped the starter seliniod and the motor turns over fine. I don't care out the safety switch. ty

Hi Brian,

I would suggest PM'ing Nick Minnetonka4me I think he can test your MPEM, and if it's bad he has a conversion using two PWC MPEM's. The reason I'm telling you this is I'm not convinced you have a bad MPEM.

what make u think this ?? I have 0 ohms and o volts on that side

I've just never heard of half of an MPEM going bad, exactly where are you getting 0 ohms and 0 volts? Maybe I'm wrong, I'm not a Seadoo boat guy. I just thought it might be worth the time rather than spend the money on a less than OEM solution.

I did a contonity (sorry spelling ) on all connectors and got 0 on my meter I took the pins out of the connector from the bad side and put them in the working side and the motor turned over so that leads me to believe that he left side is bad

Do you get two beeps?
Maybe the push to start button is bad?
Could be anything, book has a wiring diagram, chase it down.
or find someone with your year model that might let you swap in yours for a test.

no beeps . I took the buzzer out and put it in a running boat and it is good. I swoped the buttons connectors under the windshield, and still nothing. that was the first thing I tried

If its a 98 I cannot do a conversion....the panel MPEMs cannot be converted without extensive wire cutting and deciphering of the crazy schematics seadoo used in the jetboat service manuals. Thanks seadoo for using proprietary connectors!! If I could buy a male connector that is on the mpem I could build conversion kits, but I cant even find a source for the female parts other than seadoo.

And yes...the jetboats have all sorts of crazy failures relating to only one side...not cranking, cranking all the time, no spark, erratic spark....Ive heard it all.
