Hello Friends,

I have read many posts on this issue and have performed all suggested repairs throughout my rebuild except for one. One post caught my attention... I cracked the hell out of the drive shaft rope shield at some point during my engine removal efforts and left it on the shaft damaged...could this really be causing the cavitation?

Thank you

Yep, those things are worthless. But hands down that can cause cavitation.

Please elaborate on what you've done so far to combat the cavitation.

Ha...they seem quite worthless. Both motors rebuilt, shafts are in great condition, new carbon seals, new wear rings, new neoprene, new prop on the starboard engine causing me the grief. Cavitates from 4500 up on take off...forget about pulling a tube unless I have 200 yards to ease on plane. Here are some pictures. I used a shaft alignment tool but the shaft looks like it has actually been rubbing on the shield.IMG_2892.JPGIMG_2893.JPG

I have a 97 challenger twin 787s. I'm swapping a bad starboard motor out at the moment and noticed my driveshaft protector was also broken. They are useless so I will just put a punch on it and tap it till it breaks and slides out of there. You don't need it

Thanks for the input mobilefleet, it's removed. Just waiting on a couple parts to arrive hoping this solves the cavitation issue
