hey everyone,
i have a 1998 seadoo speedster twin 787cc engines i just bought this bought last week and the first time i took it out it ran fine, but at idle my starboard motor would shut off around 2000-3000rpm. so i took it out again yesterday turned it on and drove around for an hr then the motor backfired at 5000-6000rpm, so i drove back to dock and checked the plugs they were fine but i decided to change it anyway. i tried turning over the motor and it didnt turn on, tried again all i hear is click and when i let go of the button it clicks again. i think i burned out my starter?? but does anyone know why it wouldnt start and why it was backfiring? and why it would shut off at low rpms? thanks and sorry for the long questions. major noob here

Any noises at high RPM's aren't good. I'm thinking... it's not the starter. It's the engine.

At the rear of the engine, there is a gray plastic cover. Remove it, and you will see the PTO. (a flywheel) Take the plugs out, and try to turn it by hand. With the plugs out... it should turn with little resistance.
