I acquired a 1998 Speedster and the right side driveshaft is bad. The person I got the boat from has had trouble with this shaft in the past. I think he just replaced the shaft only. What could be causing this problem? What is the most economical way to fix it?

The pump could be out of alignment. There are some guys that put shims behind them to level them out. Thats only the first place I'd look.

What's the actual problem??

BUT... most driveshaft issues are because the engine/pump are out of alignment.

The right side driveshaft vibrates like crazy. The previous owner has replaced it a few times before. It seems like it only lasts a season, if that long. Before I replace it I want to actually fix the problem. How do I tell if the pump is out of alignment?

Engine/pump alignment. How do I tell if they are out of alignment? How do I tell if the pump needs to be rebuilt?
