Well I just blew up one of the motors I'm thinking, rpm's where all over the place on the drivers side motor so i turned both motors off, when i tried to turn the drivers side motor back on it sounded like i was trying to start a car with a almost dead battery I ended up clamping the intake on the not working motor and limped back to the cabin so i dropped it off to the mechanic on the way home lol.
Both of the motors have over 500 hours on them and will be doing A Full rebuild should i just suck it up and do complete rebuilds on both motors at the same time ?

I would. If one gave up... the others soon to follow.

OK sounds good purchased the boat from Orillia ont very good shape the fella I got it from told me very low hours and I get it back to my guy he hooks it up and it's got 567 hours on both motors I was so pissed pulled it out 1 hour and pop blew the motor

Iv been searching for this model of seadoo for years so o well I got it just needs new motors and some custom tlc :)

Well.....

Don't be pissed. You could have pulled the time before you bought it. BUT... realistically, that is low time. It's only about 30 hr's a year.

Just look at it this way... once you get a couple new engines... you will be good for the next 10 years.

Sorry to hijack the thread a little but this has got me wondering....

Can the hours be read from my 1995 speedster (non dess although I believe it was an add on option) ?

If so is it something I can do or is it dealer only as I suspect it is?

Would be interesting to see the hours as it's been stood for around 10 years,

Thanks and sorry for the hijack

Andy

No. the 95 didn't have an MPEM that could log time. That happened in '96 with the DESS system. (sorry)

Oh well never mind, thanks for letting me know.

Just out of question how did the add on dess system work on this year? Did it just wire into the key switch and safety switch as an add on box or was it factory order only with a different mpem and loom?

Many thanks

Andy

I don't know if the boat could do the "Add-on DESS" or not. I think for '95 it was only on the XP. It was basically already set up with a DESS, but it wasn't active. So, any magnetic cap would work on the lanyard. BUT, if you paid the dealer... they would sell you a new chipped lanyard, and program the first key.

You have to have acess to an MPEM Scanner / programmer to read the hours, it also only knows total hours for left engine, and total hours for right, not if the engines have ever been replaced before.

I ended up using BRP Pistons couldn't get 4 wsm pistons they only had 3 lol.
Iv been breaking it in this weekend this first tank of gas is lasting way way to long lol the sound of these new complete rebuilds sound 100% different motors don't rattle anymore and a deepness in sound still haven't gone more than half throttle yet 3 runs of 30 minutes plus warm up time at the dock.
