Hi I just bought on ebay ($50.00) a 278000970 paddle-wheel and I plugged it into my boat and turned on the power and spun the wheel and did not see any movement on my speedometer.

:-(

I then took it out

1. Connected the YELLOW\PURPLE(SPEEDO SENSOR) to +12v and
2. BLACK orange to my multimeter (Black Lead) and
3. Connected my multimeter (Red Lead) to the BLACK\ORANGE (SPEEDO SENSOR)

I then moved the wheel slowly and the number does not change whats so ever on my Multimeter. I then tried looking through the shop manual but it only refers on how to test a three wire sensor. Not a two wire sensor. So I took a picture for you guys and just wanted to see if I am testing it the right way and if you have any ideas.

Please see picture as it is attached.

Not quite- Connect the positive lead to the purple/yellow, and the negative to the black/orange. You should see a fluctuation as you slowly rotate the sensor. You may have to connect it to the boat and power it up. I'm not sure about putting 12v direct to the sensor, It may only be designed to run on 5v- I tested mine a few months ago but I do not recall the voltage. Im pretty sure I tested it without being connected to the ski.
