Hello i just bought a 1998 challenger and went out for the first time today, boat ran ok just a few issues, i hope you guys could help. First off 2 minutes into the ride beeping and orange light blinking on the switch on the right side (no idea what it is) pushed it and beep stopped. Also the idle was a little high about 2500rpm when just sitting, seems a little high. Also steering assist or boost only works one way not the other. Thanks any help would be great. We are planning a trip next weekend would love to fix it and pull the kids around on the tube. The smiles on there face today was priceless.

Welcome!
The orange switch on the right is the low fuel reset. if you had a full tank it should not have been illuminated.
The boat should idle @ 1500 rpms in the water and @3000 rpms on the trailer.
If your idle is to high it could be several things, cable adjustment on that engine, sticking throttle shafts in the carbs , mostly on the MAG carb. you won`t know for sure until you check them out.
The steering assist cables, there is a procedure and specific order to adjust the steering assist, throttle and oil pump cables. Your best approach is to get a shop manual and read up on it... The cables are split and run to the throttle controls and steering arm to activate the steering assist increasing engine rpms.
Some prefer the steering assist, some do not. I disabled that on ours and use the throttles if necc.

priceless I agree, when we finally finished ours, it was all worth it! Enjoy the boat! Good luck!:cool:

Chances are excellent that your fuel float has "sunk" . Remove the sending unit, pop off the bottom and tap out the fuel float. I would bet it has some fuel in it. They are only $8. The other way to check is to turn the sending unit upside down with the gauges powered. It should go to full.
You may not be experiencing the boost due to the already high idle speed of that engine. ???
