My 1998 Sea Doo Challenger 1800 will be running fine after i replaced the fuel filters and then after an hour or so it will shut down like someone removed the lanyard. It restarts immediately but it will continously do this over and over.

It does not matter whether I am idling along or even if I am running it hard.

Any ideas?

Yep... you can get just the post. And... No... you don't need anything re-programmed. The post is just the switch, and the contact for your lanyard. If you needed a new lanyard (that has the chip in it) then you would need it programmed.

Basically... in the post... there is a small magnetic switch, and over time... it wears out.

Dr. Honda...what needs to be reprogrammed? I have a 2001 Challenger 2000 merc 240EFI and I think the lanyard was the cause of intermittent starting issues. I fooled with it, and she now runs and starts great. I was thinking about replacing it as a precaution and had no idea something needed to be programed?? Please help.
