Hi, I recently posted that I was buying a low-hours 1998 GTX LTD. After ourchasing I tested it thoroughly and it ran perfectly, apparently meeting all performance specs. On the fourth outing a faulty drain plug allowed water into the hull/engine room while the ski was sitting at the beach. The water filled high up on the engine - enough to get in the inlet. We drained the hull, removed the plugs and blew out a whole lot of water. We then 'fogged' the motor several times with Bombardier lube, both in the inlet and the sparkplug holes. We kept fogging and cranking until we only got lube out. Then we inserted new spark plugs and tried to start. It started and ran pretty well straight away. We then connected to a hoseline to flush and started the flushing in the normal way. The engine started and ran normally, and would rev cleanly to 6000 when the throttle was blipped. However after a short time the overheating buzzer came on and we had to kill it.We noticed there was less than normal water coming out the back and only a dribble coming out the two centre vents under the towhook. We turned it off, let it cool and tried again, this time at a steady 3000rpm. Again it overheated in a few minutes. It seems like the cooling system has deveoped a blockage?
Any suggestions on what to do? Best. Rob
