I have a 1998 gtx limited and 2 of the pipe to exhaust manifold bolts are broken. Is there a common problem that causes this? Or is this just what happens every so often? I have ordered new studs from the dealer. will this fix my problem? Or is there something else I need to fix also?

THANK YOU!!!

Aluminum oxide....

Aluminum oxide........what did the other bolts look like when you got them out. Did they have a white, powder looking coating on them. If so, this is the aluminum oxide that all the older motors have to battle.

I have a 1997 787 engine and have broken several bolts, had to drilll and retap to repair. Now, the motor is practically dis-assembled every year, so I can keep all the fasterners tight and corrosion free.

I did an article on this, somewhere in the web. It's caused by electrolysis from bringing the stainless and aluminum components together.
