1998 GTS intermittent Start/Shut off Issue

Hello, I'm very new to the Seadoo world, so bear with me. Here's my issue:

I have a 1998 GTS that intermittently won't start/shut off until you press the button a few times (and seems to be getting worse). It seems as though it's a faulty start button because it's the same situation with starting AND stopping, but I'm too unfamiliar with it to determine whether or not it's the starter solenoid/MPEM/DESS post, etc. Also, I only get the "beeps" sometimes and it will start with or without the beeps, but I know that could be unrelated. Any help is much appreciated.

I would replace the start stop first...and if that doesnt do it replace the DESS Post.

Awesome, so you think it's one of those? Is there anything else that would keep it from shutting off?

not in that year/model ski.

The engine will shut off if I pull the lanyard, so I'm guessing it's the start/stop button.
