1998 gsx resonator

i got a 1998 gsx limited on a trade (long story) and figured out it had 2 holes in the resonator. after struggling with it too long, i cut it out because it looked like it wouldn't come out in 1 piece.

is there a better solution for a replacement?

if i put a stock one back on, how do you get it back in?
