Hey guys,

This engine was recently replaced with a new rebuilt one. It sounds as if it is only running on one cylinder, and also has a backfiring type noise. It also won't go above 3500 RPM. Carbs were just rebuilt. Any ideas?

Here are some videos of it. One has both engines running, the other has just the one.

Thanks!

Sounds exactly like my 1999 challenger 1800 did last year before I changed the fuel pump. Might check the fuel pump, as well as, the pulse line going to the fuel pump. It could be pinched or cracked not allowing the pump to pulse.

Might also check the shifter switch and make sure it is not allowing the engine to go over 3500rpms.

If none of the above, unplug the red wire from the rectifier and see if it clears up. Just remember the kill switch will not work until you plug it back in.
