1998 787 whst other year and skis interchange

Looking for a motor for my 98 speedster with twin 787 rotax . Lots skis on kijiji so was wondering if anyone knows what model and yesr skis will be a direct swap i to my boat thanks

I just swapped out a 1996 787 in my 1999 boat. Here is what I learned from my research.

1998-99 have a few changes from the 1996-97 787s but as far as I can tell they have the same HP rating so any short block will interchange between the 1996 and 1999 787s (except the fuel injected 787)

Change #1: 98-99 added a fill plug in the main bearing for the counterbalance shaft. This was done to help drain and fill the cavity when an engine is water flooded other than that no change in performance.


Change #2: 98-99 RAVE valves had slots added and the vacuum slot was isolated. From what I understand this change was made to help keep the RAVE valve working when they get clogged up with sludge. As long as you keep you RAVE valves clean there is no performance change in the RAVE valves.
