Hi I have a two 1998 1800 challengers with 787s, one I use for parts and the other one I use for my family. I bought the one for parts during the winter and I noticed that it has seprate fuel pumps, are they any good? the one I use now the fuel pumps are built onto the carborator. Should i stay with what I have no or go with the seprate pumps ? Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Thank You

Didn't know Sea Doo made an 1800 Challenger with internal pumps. Maybe someone changed out the carbs at one time?
Are you having trouble with the carbs? If no trouble, then I would not mess with success.
I don't think you can buy kits for the pumps and new ones are about $100 each so, I would keep them just just in case.
Also, SBT sells a Mikuni fuel pump, but it will require some replumbing to work. JMTC

I recently bought a 1997 Challenger 1800 after reading on here about fuel pumps havent been able to find a fuel pump on mine in the manual. would it be external or in the fuel tank?

the early 1800 had internal pumps, like on every PWC. Sometime in 98... they went external. I don't know why, since the internals will flow more than enough fuel. It was probably just some engineer somewhere trying to keep his job, by changing things.

If your engine is running well... don't mess with it. TO use the external pumps... you will need to swap the carbs too, since they have a different size return orifice. IMHO... there is no benefit of the external pumps.

Please... do not ask questions on someone else's thread. Start your own thread.

BUT... since it is on the same line of questions... The carb engine fuel pumps were never in the tank. 90% of the time, they are in the MAG side carb. Only a few of the seadoo boats used an external pump. AND... the stupid thing is... it's basically the same parts as the internal pump. So... why they decided to change (and add complexity, and more parts) is beyond me.

I`ll have to remember that if I ever get those new carbs from WSS and just leave the fuel pumps on.

Good info. Thanks.
