1997 xp hard to start

I Have a 1997 xp and when cold starting i have to choke and hold throttle wide open so it will start right up any suggestions on why this is ? I just bought the ski used. p.s fuel gauge also does not register

Sounds like your losing pressure in the fuel pump on the carbs to suck up the fuel when starting. Might be time for a rebuild kit.:cheers:

rebuild the fuel pump or the carbs..also any sugeestions on the fuel gauge not working!!
