I have a 1997 speedster that is giving me a problem. The starboard engine starts and idles fine but when trying to accelerate the rpm's flucuate between 4-6000 rpms while the port engine runs just fine. I changed the plugs and checked the compression and it reads 140. Can anyone give me any suggestions on what could be causing this problem? Thanks!

You have a fuel problem. (it's going lean) If you continue to run it that way... you will kill the engine.

OK... to take a guess... either your carbs are plugged up... or you have an air leak. (most likely around the fuel valve)

What do you suggest is the best way to check for air leaks? Would like to try that first before digging into the carb if possible... Also you said if I run it like it is it will damage the engine?
