I'm new to boating and just picked up my speedster last week. We had it on the water Saturday and holy shit I had no idea as to what I had gotten!!!!! Couple of questions we were beached for a lunch and I could hear some trickling and the bilge pump kicked on. I opened the engine bay and there was water trickling in around what looks like a boot with a rod coming up from underneath. It's got black silicone smeared all over as some one in the past was obviously trying to stop the leak.

. Is this a big job to tear into?? Also tonight I backed the boat in the garage and pulled the drain plug out and to my surprise oil/water ran out......Upon investigation I've got a small drip from my oil tank. It too looks like someone took at it with white silicone trying to stop this leak as well.

. Anyone ever had these apart?

That came is for the weedless intake. The fitting is plastic and break often. There is a guy on eBay who makes them from aluminum. If I can find the leash I'll post it for you. You're going to need to give that boat some love.

Thanks I knew I was going to have to give it some love just due to its age. Traded my motorcycle for it so the whole family could enjoy it. Boats in real good shape body wise for the year. Yeah let me know on the part I'd appreciate it. The one on the other motor looks like it's brass.

You were as brave as I was when I brought the whole family out the day after I picked up my boat.

I like to think I was brave but reality is I was a bit oblivious!!!! I was looking for a boat I could tow with my Nissan Frontier that was equal value to my bike and this is what I found. We've got 6 and 8 year old girls so the seating looked right on., pickup could haul it so " Let's Make A Deal"!!! I'm a motor head so once she came up on plane at about half throttle I was grinning ear to ear along with my oldest. The wife on the other hand was about having a panic attack and the youngest one was in tears!!!!! After a few hours of getting used to how the boat handled everyone was all grins at the end of the day!! The youngest was even throwing her hands in the air like she just don't care!!!

Haha wait till you learn to spin it out. The grin factor just keeps getting bigger. The oil tank you will have to pull the hose and drain it into a milk jug or something. Then you can get that plastic coupler off and replace the gasket (which is most likely the problem). When I did mine i unhooked the line from the oil injection so I had enough length to reach into my container. Then I changed all other oil lines and filters for safe measure.

Yeah thanks I didn't notice it till I looked at the pic I posted. I'm going to need to get an owners manual asap.
