Bought the ski this past weekend. It was stored during the winter by the previous owner indoors with stabil in the tank. Starts up cold just fine. Idles great. No hesitation on take off. Runs great all the way up to WOT. My problem is on hot starts. When changing riders, to get the ski started again I have to hold the throttle wide open and crank for about 15-20 seconds until it picks up and starts (this is with a fresh tank of gas). After that it runs fine. Its good for about half a day riding then the battery needs to be charged up from all the extended cranking. This is my first pwc and would appreciate any help.

Vapor lock....

Sounds like your either having a vapor lock in your carbs or you have loose fuel lines. Check to make sure all the pinch clamps are tight. Also, check the vent on the gas tank, that it's working. You can do this just by opening the gas tank cap, listen for a pressure sound while doing this.

Battery.....when the PWC is running, take a multi meter and see how many volts you have going back to the battery. You should have about 14 vdc charge if the charging system is o.k.........

Hard to start when hot and you say you have to hold throttle wide open and start for a few seconds before engine will run. this sounds like it is probbly a inlet needle leaking when hot and you are clearing out the engine of excess fuel by holding throttle wide open when starting. you may need to rebuild carbs. good luck Robin

Thanks for the input. I really appreciate it. I will perform the checks you mentioned. I will post back with the results. Thanks again.:)

I ran the ski this weekend with better results using a 10-15min wait between rides. The battery held up well and the ski started much easier. I believe you're right Robin, gas leaking past the inlet valve. I will put a rebuild kit in each carb. Thanks alot.
