Hi I would like to start off this website has been very usefull and alot of members has some great advice on starting a engine that doesnt work. WeLL

History 2weeks ago
First the engine is newly rebuilt so i would told and hasn't been broken into. I went to break it in about two weeks ago. I crank it right up let it idle anyways it had no power while riding i never went ova 20%throttle. I stop the engine to make sure there was no water and there it was water about 2inches. Cluess for awhile i realize to open the drain plugs and let the water out. For about a week didn't know what to do and i found this website. I read and watch the video on what to do when your engine flooded. Do you think the inside rusted already?

Today
Good news i got it started w/ one spark plug in the closest to the front and grounded the other spark plug wire. It crank started so i put the water hose in n notice grey smoke coming out which i have no idea if that normal pull the water hose out n turn off the engine. I left it running for 2mins and rest for about 5mins. After I tried the same process putting spark plug in the other cylinder leaving one cylinder w/o a spark plug and grounding one wire. Did not crank just click pause click pause click. So i went back to the other way how it did crank and it work. But after the third time now it just doesnt crank at alll. I kept repeating the steps because i could never get it crank with two spark plugs in it. Either way it doesn't turn on or nothing shoots out of the engine.

All i hear is Beep Beep Beep so then i did what i saw on a thread. Push the start button 5xs and put the key and press start. There was 2beeps short beep and a long beep.

Oh while i was cranking it up i was spraying fog solution in the spark plug holes n also the carbuerators. Well not the carbureators b/c i can't get the flame arrestors off so i spread thru the lil holes.

HELPPPP!!!!

The things I've done to get it started the first time was bought new Battery and new spark plugs. Do you think the startor is out? or replace spark plugs again or what could it be?

take both plugs out and turn the PTO at the rear of the motor to see if it is locked up.

sounds like you may have a few problems.

if it would only turn over with one plug in and now not at all but you can turn the motor over fairly easily, and you get the loud clunk clunk when you hit the starter, the starter is bad.

if you are getting a slight click when you hit the button the silinoid may be bad...

i've tried it before w/ no spark plugs but it after 3sec. it stop turning over no sound. just a small screech sound getting softer.

Today i crank it up w/ one spark plug and it turn cranked up engine ran for only 2-3secs n it turn off. Afterwards i hear no sound and realize maybe it not getting any juice. Hook up to the battery and will see what happens from there. I think your right about the starter might be bad. B/c all i hear is a loud sound cluck cluck cluck cluck. But can you start the jet ski w/ a bad starter and have it running.

I've had my engine running for over 2mins. like yesterday. Before it started it made the same noise like it does now cluck pause cluck pause cluck.

So if it makes that sound it a bad starter? If so where could i buy a starter and is it easy to install?

as long as it spins over freely and you are still having the same problem it is the starter... the starters get weak and cant turn the motor over. they will have a few decent rotations in them sometimes when cold but as soon as they warm up the thing is dead...

check ebay for a good used starter...

Kimchi,

Think I have a simalar issue, please read my topic

http://www.seadooforum.com/showthread.php?t=14251

guys are looking at my issue too which sounds fairly similar to yours, will crank with on plug but not two. Also turns over a treat with no plugs!!! THIS IS A BRAND NEW STARTER with ALL cables checked good battery etc etc.

Hope the guys can help solve our problems!!!

Cheers

Benchy

If you are trying with a car battery, then the way I would test is jumper cables Black to starter case or mounting bolt, and red directly to the cable to the starter bypassing the silinoid and MPEM.

if it cranks then the problem is ground cable, if it does not Most likely cause is starter. These are not like a car starter, they slowly loose power and fail to turn the ski over. (they are located on the bottom of the motor and constantly splashed by water in the hull... (electric motor + water = bad combo)

try taking the plugs out and turn the motor over, it should turn over completely by hand very easily.

If the motor turns easily again its the starter. If not you have other issues.:)

good news.

I put in the charged battery and it crank but didnt start so i sprayed some fog fluid in the carbs n it fired up. Motor sounds like it idling very high. I remember when i was riding my jet ski about 2weeks ago i would give it gas but felt no power in the ski. Does this ski easily can carry 2 passenger because it felt like i was going to tip over due to lack of power. I will test it out on saturday in the water see if i have the same problem. When i started jet ski 2weeks ago it ran but after i turn it off i couldnt turn it back on. Maybe it is the starter since u said starter maybe work when it cold but not when it warm so starter maybe worn out.

Runnaway seadoo.

On the ski when your running it if it it out of water it is gonig to idle higher becuase you don have water putting any back pressure or torque on the impeller. When you ran it two weeks ago was it in water on on land?

it was on water. Today i started it up in my garage and it idle high ... but yeah when i was on the water it had no power and i kept wanting to fall over don't know if it was b/c of the waves at lake sommerville but they werent huge was a bit windy tho. Could water in the engine bay play a role of why it wasn't going fast.

I had this problem with my jet ski, dont know weather it will help you but when you look into the engine bay, their is a black box where the spark leads go into. If their is water in there it may not let electricity through to the leads. Take the box out, completely seal the box so that it is water tight and remove all the rust from the connections.

I done this with my ski and now it runs on both cylinders, it used to only spark on 1 but now it has been sorted.

Hope this helps

Rhys
