I have a 97' seadoo spx in great condition and it ran great all summer long. When I rode it for the last time in sept the ski took on water because the plug somehow came out or someone played a dirty joke on me! I pulled the spark plugs and when you turn it over water comes out of the plug holes. I have a heated shop I put it in after that had happened and I got most of the water out but it will not start. I am not messing with it and I am not putting anymore money into as I am getting older and ride less. I have taken care of it very well and put a new parts on it like a trim motor and such. Is this thing worth parting out or do I trash it? I build a lot of cars and parting them out is a breeze but not so familiar with jetski's. is this too old or what?
Thank you Adam

Fix it!

No, if it only flooded it should be able to be fixed. As long as it hasn't started to rust. You said September. That's a bit long. If it is still turning over, you need to get this thing to fire up.

I see you have some mechanical experience in your statement, "parting out' . If you know how to check it for spark, then do that first. Because if the electricals got wet and are shorted out, then parting it out would be the option. If you have spark and it's still blowing water, you need to put the plugs back in and turn it over. The water will not be pushed out without the compression of the stroke. Then, if you get most of it out, you can pour about a half ounce of alcohol into the cylinder. Alcohol will help to lock up the water droplets and spit them out.

Then, put a dash of fuel in each cylinder and try to start.

This is a long and drawn out process and takes patience. I had a friend with a TigerShark that sank. It took almost the entire day drying it out enough to get a crank out of it. Water ingestion damage is reversible if caught in time.
You should be able to get a few dollars for it if you put it up for sale their, at your home classifieds.

There is still a pretty high demand for the 787's.

My 1997 seadoo spx will run on reserve but wont run on the normal setting. I have just un-winterized it and it seems to run fine with the reserve tank but wont even start when it is on the normal one. This happend last year also. I was just wondering if anyone knew a way to fix this problem
Thank you.

Thank you.

remove the petcock(fuel selector), and clean it. Then remove the grey fuel lines and replace those with ones from an auto parts store.

Any updates on your sunk spx? Kinda curious to see how your making out. I have one of my own SPX.
