1997 Seadoo SPX Wear Ring Question w/pic

Hello everyone! I purchased this craft in the fall and it works quite well other then a couple small mid throttle issues.

BUT its almost wintertimehere and I decided to pull some parts off before storage. When I took the pump off I noticed the wear ring had some wear on it. Two sides of the ring are worn slightly and nowhere else. And even where it is worn it isnt really that deep at all. Aparently the pump housing was updated on this to a newer model design. The housing is plastic with the brass insert and the nozzle is different style.

So my question is... What causes the ring to wear slightly on two sides and no where else? With the pump installed it looks as tho its the left and right side that have the wear. And why would it seem to flake off like that?

Should I replace it or is it just going to shred the new ring the same.. Everything seems tight on the skat track swirl.

Looking at your blade, it seems like you have a little wear. While you have it off, get a feeler gage and measure the gap. If it's over .40", then it's time to replace.

I agree with Chris, it doesn't look bad, but I'd measure it just to be sure.:cheers:
