Anyone have any suggestions on how to get water out of my 717 engine or how to check for water in engine ? Also i am told that they dont have rebuild carbs anymore for it so can i take the old carb off 40-38-16 and replace it with something else ?

Remove the spark plugs turn the motor over and see if any water comes out the spark plug holes. Who is "they", send them to Dr Honda to have your carbs. rebuilt.
You need to act quickly to expel water from engine, or the bearings and lubricated parts may begin to rust, which will damage then engine in a short period of time. Take your boat to a shop if you don't know how to do this procedure correctly.
