I'm having a problem with my 1997 seadoo gtx when I got to turn on the engine the motor won't turn over unless I take the spark plugs off , I changed the starter checked the solenoid and the wiring all in good condition I've read that it could be hydrolocking with oil due to a bad seal or something if so how can I take the extra oil out so the engine will crank

To get the oil out remove the plugs and crank to engine over a few times to shoot the oil out of the plug holes. You could just have a weak battery also. Did you load test your battery?

I removed the plugs but when I crank no oil comes out , I havent load tested the battery but I used my car battery and still does the same

What starter did you put in? I haven't personally used an aftermarket one but a lot of people have issues with them.

I cranked the engine but no oil comes out and no I haven't load test the battery but I did use my car battery and still nothing can it still be the battery though?

You compression tested the engine? Of all of your cables are good, good battery, you have a oem seadoo starter it should turn over with plugs in it unless you have internal engine issues.

I rebuild the original starter compression test are good 150 psi on both cylinders it was running when I bought it the previous owner told me he had converted to premix and had cancelled the pump but when I went to go try it out it was putting out way way too much smoke so I took it back home to do further inspection come to find out the oil pump wasn't cancelled so I figured all that smoke was due to both the pump and premix working together (too much oil) so I went ahead and cancelled the oil pump to the mag cover off were the magneto is to remove plastic drive when I put it all back together and I tried to start it the engine wouldn't turn over . I took the plugs off and it started turning over easily .

It it were mine I would ditch the premix and run the oil injection. They are very reliable on the seadoo's.
If it will not crank with the plugs in it is typically a bad battery or bad ground connection.

I tried my car battery and still wouldn't turn over I checked the connections all look brand new how can I check if it's bad ground connection

If you KNOW you have a good starter (and it may not be as it could have been a windings issue, not a brush issue) and you KNOW you have a good battery. Then it must be a cable o a connection. There is nothing else left in the formula.

That said,, this is only true if you truly KNOW the battery and starter are in fact good.

I took the original starter to get rebuild at a shop and I have a brand new battery how can I find out if is the connection can i put jumper cables directly to the starter and try to see if engine turns over would that work?

Yes, you can do that.. If they are of a good quality (Not cheap thin wires) that will answer the question.

So the ski started right before you removed the oil pump and than it didn't start after the oil was removed? Nothing else was removed or messed with? When did the starter and battery swap happen?

Right after I seen it wouldn't start , I thought maybe the starter was done for so I went and took it to get rebuild , the battery is new in checked wiring when I took out starter all look new .

And yeah it was running before I cancelled the oil pump , it was just smoking allot

FYI: I have purchased brand new battery's that were DOA. I wouldn't overlook the easiest solutions first. Throw a voltmeter on it.

Also I hooked my car battery on and still wouldn't turn over but I will try the voltmeter and see what it does

Put the volt meter on the hot wire of the starter and put the ground near the starter. Read what the colts drop to when you crank it. Then do the same thing at the battery. Tell us these numbers and we can help you much better.

Update : I checked the wiring again and I decided to just go buy new ground cable and to my surprise the engine cranked right up thank you for the help I plan on taking it out tomorrow and test it out in the water

Very common issue. Others should take note here. You MUST have good cables and connections. If not, nothing else matters. You can chase this kind of thing for a month if they are an "unknown" issue.

Glad you solved it.

Thank you I'm glad too I was literally getting ready to take the whole engine apart lol , one more question when I started it up it was going on idle 3,000 to 3,200 rpms then it would go back down a little and then go up again is this normal?

3000 RPMs on the trailer is normal. Once there is a load on the impeller (in the water) it will drop to 1500 RPMs
