also if its the sending unit my tac for my speedometer also quit on me could they be linked to the sending unit problem or should i look for another problem creating this speedometer tac not reading? thanks looking forward to hearin from yins!

thanks again!-Dan

You need to check the Pink and Pink/Black wire coming out of the baffle tube in the gas tank. The sending unit works off resistance. Pull the plug apart at the tank, and use an ohm meter to check for resistance between the two pink wires. The resistance will be different depending on how much fuel is in the fuel tank. If you get no resistance, remove the clamps off the sender, and pull the sending unit out of the fuel tank. Check the magnets on the float in the sending unit. To get to the float out, pop the bottom off and look for the 4 magnets on the float. If they are missing use a strong magnet to get them out of the tank bottom. If they are dirty clean them and re-insert it back in the baffle tube and check the wires again to check for readings of resistance depending on where the float is in the baffle tube. If still no reading of resistance replace the sender. If you get readings, check continuity of wiring to gauge. If all wiring checks out ok the gauge is bad. Keep me posted on your progress.

ok so i pulled the whole darn thing out and yes it did read on the meter and the i attached it back to the plug of the ski and tipped it upside down and right side up and did notice that when it was upside down the tank read full so im not sure as of yet if it could have been a loose conneaction or what, so i just reinstalled everything its kinda weird, the tank is practicaly empty now probably 1-2 gallons if that in the tank, so what should i do im thinkin of putting more gas in the tank to see if it reads it but then im thinkin ok if it doesnt its gonna make it that much more of a pain in the butt pulling the tank out again to possibly replace the unit so if i do put gas in about how much should i put in to where it would read (like 5 gallons?) thanks for all your guys help! its greatly appreciated!

Think'n 1-2 gals, should register?, or you can
Get the gas, if unit still don't read, syphin it out, put in ur truck?

thats true hahahah last time i tried that i had an extreamly short hose and drink a little bit man.......... freakin worst thing ever! couldnt breath cause the fumes man............. it was bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i know better now! hahaha but yeah i was thinkin even that little bit would show some bars if to at least one bar, heck maybe it was less that what i think it does, probably tomarrow i go put some in it! lets see at the average rate of gas going up (seems daily) gas will probably be $4.15 by then! hahaha cause its already 3.99 here! gotta love my toys!

lol...$4.70 out here, goin to river tomorrow, take'n ex to help pay for trip...THATS RIGHT..but yah, syphin, have to do it, from time to time, at the carbs, then all is good, but, damn, taste like Sh-t

I had the same problem with my sending unit. The gauge said the tank was empty but the tank was full. I pulled the whole sending unit out of the top of the tank by loosening the bottom hose clamp and wiggling the unit side to side, you may have to cut some of the tywraps holding the hoses and wires so you can get enough slack to pull the sender all the way out. Remove the screen filter from the bottom and remove the peice of wire that keeps the float from falling out. Use needlenose pliers to unbend one side.Once the float is out ,put it in a small can with some gas to see if it still floats. My float sunk to bottom. The Seadoo dealer told me there was a recall back in late 90s for this problem. You can buy just the float for $14.00. If your dealer can't find just the float in his computer heres the part the number "fuel baffle float kit" p/n 295 500 438. Good luck ,I hope this helps!!!!!!!!!
