Wear ring went out on my Seadoo this weekend. Ordered a new one from OSDparts, two small orings and large nose cone Oring. Drained all the old pump
Oil overnight. After installing wear ring the impeller can freely spin. I didn’t crush the thrust washer(I have done once). I installed the foam Oring between the pump and pump housing. Just looked at a parts diagram and it doesn’t show I needed one. The problem I’m having is once I tighten the four nuts down I can’t hand turn the PTO, if I looses the nuts I can easily turn the PTO. I’ve verified the drive line isn’t in a bind and slides easily into the impeller and PTO. Would the foam be placing something in a bind? I’ll try tomorrow to start the ski and see if the impeller shaves off some of the wear ring. I just don’t want to damage anything. Thanks for any ideas or recommendations.

It is possible that tightening could distort the wear ring a little. IS the wear ring OEM or aftermarket?

It's the Delrin wear ring from OSD I wondered if the neoprene pump to plate seal I added is the problem, since according to a parts diagram it's not indicated? Off the ski I can freely turn the impeller with 1 finger.

My guess it the delrin wear ring. I only use the OEM rubber ones. The foam seal will not cause any issues and should be used.

Just got home from work. Fired up ski. Turned impeller over no problem. Some shavings from the new wear ring were on the floor, but nothing in a bind. Time to button everything back up and hit the water.
