1997 gti ont start!!!!!

Was riding one of my jet skiis with a buddy and noticed when i shut it off it was dragging when i would start it back. Rode some more then cut it off now it wont start.Bought a new battery,took starter off anditspun when connected to battery.Cleaned all connections but it back on ski and tried again. I got the two beeps but then just clicking.Thans for your help if you can.

hey....first, pull plugs and remove the shield on back of motor, to expose the PTO. Turn that counterclockwise, should turn smooth. If so, then, where battery cable goes into box, open that, and where 2 red cables attach to post, jump those with heavy gauge wire,pliers. If wants to kick over, than you need a new solenoid(the 2 post mechanism)...:cheers:
