1997 Challenger single engine died and will not start back.

Hi, this is only my second thread so bare with me. I was out in my boat a couple of days ago and i ran for a good 2 hours off and on. When i was headed back to the dock at full throttle the engine just died all of a sudden. I pulled the safety key put it back on heard the two beeps, put back in nuetral heard one beep, then i tried to start it and it tried to turn over but would never fire. Its always been hard to start, usually takes me about 5 to 10 times when i first put it in the water. What could be the problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would try a new set of plugs to see if it will start, and examine the condition of the old plugs.

If it won't, make sure it's getting spark and then go from there.
