1996 XP won't go above 25 mph.

Hi. My XP was running great up until Saturday when all of a sudden the engine would bog down before it got to full speed. It almost sounds starved of fuel. Is there a fuel filter I should be cleaning/replacing? I pulled the plugs (they looked fine) but I put some new ones in anyway with no change in performance. Any ideas?

Carb filter

I had a 95 xp that did the same thing. Took the carbs apart and found small filter in each carb. One was ok, but the other was packed full of crap. Cleaned em out and it ran like a champ. I'm only saying this because it sounds like you may only be running on one carb.

Yes repieces is correct. he small internal filters could cause this problem. I would pull the filters apart and clean them. Be careful not to tear or damage the diaphragms or you'll have to buy a rebuild kit for them.
