1996 spx rotary valve cover question

I have a 1996 spx seadoo and a 1997 gti (same engine 717), i need to replace the valve cover on the spx cause it's all scratched up. Why does the spx have 2 manufactured groove things, and the gti doesn't. Its the same engine. Can i just buy the same one as the gti since it's the same engine?

If you go on aeadoomanuals.net you will find parts catalogues there, you can then check the part number for each machine, if they are the same then..... I would imagine they are the same, just not sure if the intake bolts up the same or not if one is single carb and one is dual carb so best to check the part numbers

It is not the same. 1996 is a dual carb and 1997 GTI is a single carb, two completely different rotary valve covers.

Ok, but what are those 2 grooves across from each other on the spx cover?

Just a trap for some oil. Really makes no difference.
