Hey, I have a 96 spx and my gauges stoped working. I have 12v and ground going to the fuel gauge and from what I can tell the trim gauges gets its power from the fuel gauge from a purple and black wire that leaves the fuel gauge and plugs into the trim gauge pig tail. I also straight wired the trim gauge with 12volts and moved the trim shaft manually because my trim motor went out so i had it off while doing this test. My VTS seems to be fine, I replaced it last year and the two wires going to the motor will reverse poliarty when I press the up and down trim button. But still nothing comes on on the fuel, oil, temp, battery gauge. Does this sound like the gauges are bad. can any one point me in the right direction.

The gages all get there power and ground from the same source. I would make use with a multi meter they are getting power and ground. If one isn't getting power or ground... none of them are.

well i have power and ground on the wide pig tail that goes to the fuel gauge but the only wires i see going to the trim gauges is the 2 brown wires on one pig tail that goes to the vts and the purple and black on another pig tail that plugs into one that comes from the fuel gauge, thats not to say that its might be the same wires on the wide pigtail and that they just jumper over inside the fuel gauge but there is no power on them. am i missing something here or is both my gauges bad? you can see condensation behind the lens on the fuel gauge and some electrolis( or however you spell it) behind the lens on the trim gauge. I just wanted to make sure before i sank alot of money in gauges only to find that wasnt the problem or even mess up the new ones.

I'll look into the manual for the proper test to see if it might be a wire problem. If the glass has condensation on them, means they aren't sealed anymore. Don't buy yet, till we do a better check on the electrical.

96 SPX oil/fuel gauge issue

I also have a oil/fuel gauge issue. But mine is only the oil/fuerl gauge. It displays only a low fuel light and nothing else. I have only owned it for 5 days and have no tech sources. HELP.kevin911

kustomkarl do you know what the wires are to test for 12v and ground. I have one machine I cant figure out the baffle and gauge are good I tested them in another my other SPX. I think it has to be a wiring issue. My fuses are good also. Help me please I'm pulling my hair out. not really but cold use your help!!!

In all seadoo's the Purple wire is a +Power wire. The Black is always- Ground.
Be sure to use a multi meter to check any wire connections, and not a 12 volt light tester, so you won't cause more problems if you test the wrong wires.
