1996 Sportster Fuel Gauge issue

Greetings, my 1996 Sportster rebuild has one issue remaining. When the fuel level drops below 1/2 the gauge drops to empty. From full to 1/2 it reads fine. Is this a float/magnet issue or a baffle issue? Thanks in advance.

Hard to say, but I would start with the sending unit.
