I have done a ton of searching for the answer but I just can't find it. When I am trying to start the boat I get one long beep. If I put the boat in gear I get 4 beeps like I expect. When I move it back to neutral I get one short beep and when I try to start the boat,I get one long beep. Any idea what the single long beep indicates when I push the start button or the short beep when moving the stick to neutral?

I do not get 2 beeps when I put the dsss key on.

Thanks,

Kevin

It's not reading the lanyard.

Was it working before? If it was... try cleaning the inside of the lanyard and post with a mild abrasive. Water and baking soda as a paste works well. (use it to polish the contacts) Also... some people use diet cola, since it's acidic/corrosive. But... you need to clean off the post after.

Try it,and let us know if it worked.

Yes, I drove it yesterday out on the water without issue. I tried both of the lanyards with the same result. The last time I had something like this, I replaced the battery and all was well. I pulled the battery and put it on charge and checked the fluid level. It was discharged a decent amount, but not completely. I am hoping that it was just a low battery.

I will clean the terminal and lanyard and try again with the charged battery.

Thanks,

Kevin

It was what I suspected. The battery. I charged the existing battery for a few hours and it showed decent voltage, but this means nothing unless the battery is under load. So, threw it in the boat, hooked it up and put the lanyard on the post. Got my 2 beeps (I did not clean the lanyard or the post) and hit the starter.

It was not impressive. The voltage dropped significantly and the engine was turning over a much slower pace than normal. So, the battery is toast. Picked up a new one and when I install it I am very confident that the problem will be resolved.

Making progress.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi all, I'm completelly new to boating and decided to purchase a 1996 speedster as my first boat, day after I purchased it, took it out to the lake and had a blast with my kids. I took it out today to the lake, had a blast, but i noticed that it no longer beeps when i place the key on it. It will turn on with no problem, but I'm concerned why is not beeping. if it is a piece I have to look into, were is it located and what does it look like, (I'm assuming it looks the same as the small beeping speaker for inside a computer).
Thanks for the help

I forgot looked around and I think I found it, but the cables are unpplugged, were do they go to?

Thanks

Abe
