Hi all,

Just wondering if the material on the shift lever is aluminum or magnesium?

PO has broken the shift lever clear off. It is attached currently by a screw that has been drilled in the bottom of the lever.

Thinking of taking the lever to a local welder and see if he is able to weld it back together for me.

What is the disassembly process like to remove the shift lever?

Got it apart and took it to my dads friend, a local welder.

He told me it was not aluminum, but rather white metal. Basically steel that has been mixed with a lot of zinc. Lighter and cheaper.

Really hard to weld he said, and not very strong. Interesting.

But regardless, got it welded back together for $30. Putting it back together now!
