1996 SeaDoo XP Electrical Question

I just bought a 96 XP and its my first time to own a jet ski. We took it out three times since we bought it and it ran fine until last weekend we took it out and the battery light was coming on at idle. I checked the battery and it was bad so I replaced it with a everystart maxx from wal mart and now theres no power at all. It doesnt do anything when you push the start button or put the key in. I checked all the conncetions and everything was pluged in. Any help would be great.

Welcome to the seadoo forum Nathan. Chances are that the problem is in the ground cable that goes to the engine by the starter. Be sure its clean has a good connection.

Thank you for your reply Karl. I figured out the problem. It poped the 5 amp fuse I put a new fuse in and tried to crank it and when i did the black VTS box started smoking so I unhooked the vts and put a new fuse in and itll crank and run fine now. What does the VTS do?

VTS as in Vareable Trim System? That adjust the trim of the boat... adjusts how the hull rides in the water. When it is all the way down, the bow of the boat rides lower. When it's up, the bow of the boat rides higher.

IMCAHOBBY60 mine did the same thing and smoked the VTS. Does anyone know what causes this and what we can do to fix it.

Thats what I thought it did. But I could move it up and down and it wouldnt change any thing so I guess it never worked from the time I bought it. KaosIND I would like to know what we can do to fix it before I buy a new VTS and does the same to the new one. Thanks for all of your help!
