hello i have a 1996 seadoo gts and it just got a new top end so took it to the lake and it would not start as the battery was abiut ti die it started to fire a couple of times but not enough to keep it running then some people let us jump start it off there boat it was turning over kept firing a little after a while of that it finally started rode it for about 20 minutes verying throttle to break in the new top end and then it started to bog a little so took it back to the ramp dock and the killed the engine to let it cool down it was not very hot but i thought it might be something to do with the new pistons not broken in yet that made it get a little hotter then usual and act strange after leting it cool for about 10 minutes tried to start it but it would not start changed spark plugs to a spar that i had still did not start

Have you found the problem that caused re-building the top end, if it was a problem other than just regular wear and tear. IE, the motor running lean due to clogged fuel delivery system, from grey tempo fuel lines. We need a little history in order to help you. I hope when you jump started the ski you didn't try to start it from a running vehicle.

after the top end this was the first time testing it it seemed to have trouble sucking the fuel into the engine. The boat that jump started me was not running. There are no gray fuel lines. The fuel tank was drained so I could measure out the oil because I took off the oil ejector and now I premix. I only put 5 gallons in it could this be the reason it was hard to start then after a while could it have lost suction because it cant reach that far into the fuel tank? I think I only burned one gallon riding it before it would not start.

Are you running on the Reserve portion of the fuel shut off? If you only have 5 gals in the tank try using the reserve portion of the fuel cut off switch.

the person that i bought the jet ski from had bypassed the petcock so it only runs off reserve i was able to start it in the driveway the idle was set high that is why i think it was hard to start at the lake set the idle down and it started right up there was also some air bubbles in the fuel line this could have caused the problem when it had a lack of power riding it for a while the rebuilding of the engine seemed to have fixed the original problem
