Hey all!
This may be a silly question to some but it is a question I have so I have come to the best.

Bit of backstory I have bought a 96 GSX 787 with a oil problem, leaking into cylinders which I have tracked down to a deformed rotary shaft seal I have since replaced, had been told all parts are there upon purchase and this is my first project, I have already learnt a great deal.

My question is.. I have been watching videos and my end cap that goes on the PTO side of the counterbalance shaft doesn't match any I have seen, it seems ever so slightly smaller and does not have a protruding ring that slots into the recessed ring on casing Infront of the bearing and has a Oring, is this a normal cap? will it be an issue? It barely fits when the casing bolts are torqued to spec but seems it will hold its position, I have attached photos.

Any help is greatly appreciated

How did you track it down to a deformed rotary shaft seal if you don't mind my asking? I have a '97 GTX I'm about to tear into. 124 hours but leaking oil like a sieve into the crankcase. I am assuming shot inner crank seals due to sitting for years in my buddy's garage. But now you have me wondering...

Put this valve in the feed line and forget about those seals. Ride it like ya stole it. :D

The seal itself was warped and sort of squeezed into a oval shape. Also looked like it may had been pinched. Sort of made sense to me that if this oil seal was not functioning the next destination is the intake ports under the rotary valve cover. But I am by no means a expert.
