I have a 1996 Seadoo challenger. When I started it 1st time last week it paused a second or two, then the starter kicked in and started. I was on the lake and after a few starts and stops it wouldn't start back up, just turned over a couple times and stopped, over and over, which finally killed the battery. Bought a new marine starting battery and when I put the dess key in, there are no beeps, but still pauses a second or two, often with a clunk, then starts. I get 12.4v dc off and 13.5v running. I was going to change the negative battery cable but can't get to it where it's attached at the starter. Can I use a jumper cable attached to another ground to verify or rule out the cable? Any other thoughts? Thanks.
