Hi there,

I just recently stumbled upon this forum after doing a search on the Sea Doo Challenger. I may be off on the year, but my buddy has a Sea Doo Challenger that has been sitting on the hard for about 4 years now. Up until recently he hasn't entertained the idea of departing with the boat, but recently mentioned maybe it was about time. I have liked the boat since he first bought it, and in fact was the last person to utilize it. I think it would make a great additional toy for the marina, and am wondering what should I be prepared to do to the boat if he does decide to sell it to me in order to have it up and running again.

Thanks in advance,

Erik

is it a single or double engine??? i restored one there not to bad was it winterized b4??? i would change plugs, new fuel ,charge battery cross your fingers and hope that its that simple:cool: pls post some pics if u can and keep us updated!!!

It's a single engine and yes, it was fully winterized. He said he winterized in anticipation of it sitting for an extended period of time. I need to find out what he meant by this. Hopefully the pics attach properly. These were taken in 2011 when we took the boat down with us to Lake Cumberland for a houseboat trip we did. It was great to have to explore once the houseboat was beached, Jet Boat - Lake Cumberland2.jpg

If it still looks like the photos it won't be bad. Need to go through it all and see how it is. Matters how much you get it for and how many hours on it.

looks good i would try to bring him down as much as possible cuz even though those pics look good u still might need to rebuild an engine worse case or even worse need a computer on the other hand u might get urself a gr8 cheap boat

though the pics look like it was taken care of then which state r u in?? check if their was antifreeze run through (if needed where u are) stabilizer, though i would drain the fuel anyway b4 starting ,fogging oil in the cylinders etc.....

We are located in IL. Initially he mentioned letting it go for around 1k since its me he would be selling to. Knowing what he paid for it(2nd owner) I don't feel I'm being taken advantage of. I figured the gas would need to be drained off the bat, and will need to verify on the anti-freeze and fogging, but believe all of this would've been done knowing how he takes care of the rest of his toys. I'll keep you posted as to when/if the sale is going to happen given he is still on the fence about selling. Thank you for the advice as it's much appreciated.
