1996 GTX - Wrist Pin and Circ Ring Install

Hi,

I was given a 1996 GTX (787 Engine) to work on over the winter. The engine top end is in a cardboard box. I work on cars so I thought "why not?" I'm told it needs a new top end but I thought I would reassemble the old one as practice, and to check the electronics before I sink a lot of money into it. The cylinders and pistons are a little scored, the piston tops are black and there is carbon in the exhaust ports. It looks like they were overheated.

My question: How is the circ ring installed at the end of the wrist pins? Do I need to purchase a tool from Seadoo? Also, how do I remove them afterwards? I've seen pictures of snap rings associated with the wrist pins, but these are circ rings with no holes for a compression tool.

I purchased a service manual but was hoping to get a head start over the weekend before the manual arrives.

Thanks,

Shelato

installed mine w/ flathead screwdriver, but is a certain way thatclip needs to align for less/no oppurtunity for clip to pop out inside cylinders..think may beable to judge, lookn at piston...

i use a small pair of needle nose pliers with a small notch ground at the tip so i can hold on to the clip.

The screw driver worked fine. I was making it way too difficult. Thanks for input.

I may have to start a new post for my next question but I'll give it a try here: I have 3 parts left over after putting the top end back on the 787 engine. A plastic flange about 4" in diameter, with 6 bolt holes. A piece of black hose about 1 1/2" in diameter and 4" long. And what looks like some sort of coupling, 1 1/4" in diameter with a needle bearing inside. The black piece of hose fits over one end of the "coupling". The guy that gave me this Seadoo had 4 other Seadoo's as well. Maybe these parts belong to another Seadoo? The one I'm working on aleady has a coupling on the backside of the engine. But it doesn't look exactly like the parts I have left over.

Any ideas?
