1996 gtx, mpem/fuse?

My '96 seadoo gtx has a problem with the mpem. The 5 amp fuse blows the instant I hook the battery up. I was out of 5amp fuses but had a 7.5 and put that in. Bad idea, now the mpem smokes when the battery is hooked up. Can anyone help with a direction on what I should do or look at first? I figure I will need a new mpem but I don't want to put in a new one and have it go out right away. I was already stupid once. I have checked the wires and tested several things but I am currently stuck. Any help is appreciated.

I would contact another member that deals with this problem all the time...His name is Mike, from " All Things Custom" PM him, as he might be able to help you out, as to solve the problem.
