Hello everyone,

I am new to your forum and I thought I might start out with a simple one for all you PWC experts. I am a pretty good automotive mechanic but I haven't worked much on boats. I bought a friend's ski which had a seized engine for a song. I have since repaired the engine and rebuilt the carbs. I also replaced the wear ring. When I replaced the ring I also replaced the carbon ring. The boat performs well at speed but has a time getting out of the hole and cruising at slow speed. The question I have is how cavitation plays into my problem? I am not familiar with what I need to be looking for to solve my issues. I have done some searching and found some info but I would like some general understanding of how the jet pump works and what will cause problems. Thanks for the time.

I hope this answers some of your questions.

Thanks. I have read that post, very nice. I am looking to find out a little more model specific info regarding the issue. I have read about gaskets and silicon seals on parts in boat threads and I am wondering how that pertains to me.

Yes I do have the shop manual. I am looking for the," that happened to me and this fixed it" type stuff. Thanks.
