1996 GTI seem to have stuck in neutral

I have a 1996 GTI. It was running fine over the weekend. I was idling waiting to load at the the ramp. I got tired of waiting, so I went back out. I may have sucked something up, but ski would not go fast at all. Engine revs normal but has a vibration now. What should I check? It acted like the ski was in neutral.

Pull the intake grate off under the ski and look in around the prob and make sure there is nothing in there. If not then may be a wear ring issue. Most likely sucked something up.

I will try that. Just got the ski last week. Bought it from a shop. They had just put a new engine in it and wear ring. I think it would be odd for the wear ring to go out that quick. I have put around 8-10 hours on it.

All it takes is a few good sized rocks in there.
I would think sand is pretty bruttle on it too.
